The Knights of Columbus (Knights) was founded by Father Michael McGivney on February 6, 1882 at St. Mary Church in New Haven, CT. Originally to help widows and families. It is a Catholic fraternal service organization.
Its "principles" are: Charity, Unity, Fraternity & Patriotism.
The church remains vigorous and undimished as the primary mission of the Knights. The "Crusade for Life" is another primary mission for the Knights.
Today there are 15,342 councils in the world with 1.9 million members.
The Knights are one big family consisting of husbands, wives, children, widows, college students and the clergy.
If you are a practical Catholic man, age 18 or over, the Knights of Columbus may be just what you are looking for. The Knights offer an opportunity for fellowship with people who share the same beliefs and who recognize the same duty to God, family and to folks down the street.
God, family and community. These are the priorities of the Knights of Columbus. And the Knights and their families act on these priorities. Contact any Knight for information about joining.
