The Music Liturgy at St. John's is comprised of an organist, a keyboardist, song leaders or cantors, a choir known as the Resurrection Choir and a newly formed children's choir, the Joyful Singers. Music is provided for nearly all church activities including weekend Masses, Holy Day Masses, funerals, weddings and special holiday services.
Music is generally lead from the Choir Loft in the rear of church by the church organist and either a cantor(s) or the Resurrection Choir. Music may also be provided by the keyboardist and a cantor from the front, right-side of church. A newly formed children's group known as the Joyful Singers, also sing occasionally during Mass. In addition, the children of St. John's Religious Education Program perform special musical programs each year during the Christmas and Easter seasons.
Additional musicians and singers are needed...and are most welcome! If you are interested please contact Christine at 815-273-3961. Requests for specific music selections at Mass or other liturgical celebrations may also be made through Christine as well.
