There are two primary parish leadership bodies that oversee policy formation and the financial management of St. John the Baptist parish:
1. Parish Pastoral Council 2. Parish Finance Council
The
Parish Pastoral Council is a body consisting of the Pastor and eight members of the parish community which are nominated by the Council and appointed by the Pastor. The Pastor presides over the Pastoral Council along with a Chairperson and Secretary who are also nominated by the Council and appointed by the Pastor.
The Pastoral Council meets every other month (January, March, May, July, September and November). Meetings are generally held on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm in Antl Hall. All Pastoral Council meetings are open to the parish community and will be announced in the Sunday bulletin the week prior to each meeting.
The Pastoral Council's main objective is to promote and support the parish's pastoral vision and encourage responsible stewardship of the parish. More details regarding the Pastoral Council's organization, purpose and duties may be found in the Constitution and By-Laws.
For more detailed information regarding the Parish Pastoral Council see the tab entitled Parish Leadership Documents.
The
Parish Finance Council exists to provide advice and consultation to the Parochial Administrator and Business Manager regarding the fiscal matters of the parish. The Council reports to the Parochial Administrator and periodically reviews the detailed expenses incurred by the parish and compares these expenses to the annual budget. Major capital expenditures are reviewed by the Finance Council and any financing decisions are likewise discussed by the Finance Council. The Finance Council also reviews the annual budget as presented by the Business Manager and recommends the adoption of the budget by the Parochial Administrator.
